“Life is short and we have never too much time for gladdening hearts of those who are travelling the dark journey with us. Oh be swift to love, make haste to be kind.”—Henri Frederic Amiel, Swiss Philosopher and Poet (1821-1881)

Healing with the lion’s guiding light. Regulus counseling.

OUR STORY

Since the beginning of navigation, sailors would use the stars to guide their path during their expeditions. Although they were in darkness, they took comfort in the stars, knowing they were never lost, as long as they looked up at the stars, lighting their path in the night sky. Within Leo, one of the oldest constellations, lies Regulus, which marks the heart of the lion. The brilliant blue-white star of Leo, illuminates the sky as soon as the sun sets, glowing at the lion’s heart, as the lion’s guiding light. Regulus is also known to usher in the Spring season: the season of new beginnings. Learn More

TELE-THERAPY

In response to the unprecedented health phenomenon, our team of therapists offer tele-therapy: confidential, secure, HIPAA-compliant online counseling to ensure physical safety, while also removing the barrier of physical location. We connect via your computer, tablet, or smartphone, from the privacy of your home. We recognize some clients’ hesitance in participating in tele-therapy, with concerns over the loss of the personal interaction. Numerous scientific studies have shown that tele-therapy is just as effective as face-to-face psychotherapy, with higher retention rates, while also increasing access to care. Studies have also shown that tele-therapy delivered by video conference is effective for depression, anxiety, and adjustment disorder. Tele-therapy is an invaluable option to ensure you can continue your path towards wellness, as we look ahead towards the future, with the hope to continue your journey with you, face-to-face, once it is safe. Life can be overwhelming, especially with an unprecedented health phenomenon, causing additional stress and uncertainty. In response, our team of therapists are specialized in providing tele-therapy: confidential, HIPAA-compliant online counseling, both convenient to balance work and family schedules, and to ensure physical safety, from the privacy and sanctuary of your home. Together, we can navigate your journey of exploration, self-discovery, and healing.

Words From Our Founder

I founded Regulus Counseling to address the growing trauma, and mental health needs of today’s most underserved, and often, marginalized groups. The foundation of my counseling approach is Rogerian (based on the ideals of Carl Rogers), or person-centered therapy. Key components to the Rogerian approach are empathy, congruence, and unconditional positive regard. I cater the remaining aspects of my work with clients to each specific client. Each client has therapeutic needs which are unique to them, thus my “out of the box” therapeutic approach is to individualize a treatment plan, specific to each client.
Regulus Counseling provides a trauma-focused, supportive environment. Trauma therapy can be applied to most facets of mental health healing: a supportive, non-judgmental environment for positive change, and personal growth. Too often, individuals with traumas find it difficult to identify a trauma-informed and supportive therapist. The team behind Regulus Counseling specializes in working with individuals healing from trauma, where we provide a supportive environment to all persons, regardless of who you are, where you are from, your gender identity, or gender expression. All persons are welcome here.

First Responders, an underserved section of society, is a community we are passionate in helping. First Responders work non-traditional long hours; are exposed to traumas most of society avoids, or are unwilling to be exposed to, or experience. For many First Responders, they place the needs of others in front of their own. “Who helps the helpers” is the mission statement of my approach to working with First Responders. Military Veterans, another underserved community, are often exposed to war, high stress, and social stigma. Veterans historically avoid mental health services and suffer in silence for too long. Many combat support Veterans have a higher rate of PTSD than combat arms. PTSD is a trickster in the brain and leave Veterans feeling as if they are no longer in control. Regulus Counseling provides an atmosphere of support and education to quantify PTSD and a road map to recovery.
Many individuals may face social stigmas, lack of understanding, and are exposed to numerous traumas, both physically and mentally, which unfortunately, remain unprocessed. I want all individuals facing these challenges to know you are most welcome at Regulus Counseling, and we hope to help you navigate those challenges.
